Diplomas
Diplomas awarded in or after Fall 2021: Diplomas for Associate Degrees and Certificates of Achievement will be printed and
mailed by Parchment. Mailing request forms are not required. You will receive an email when the hard copy is ready for printing & the digital
diploma can be claimed. Keep your preferred mailing address up-to-date in the campus
portal. If you have additional older diplomas still on file at A&R, use the mailing
form linked below to request those diplomas, or pick them up in person.
Diplomas awarded for terms prior to Fall 2021: Diplomas are printed through A&R. Mailing requests are usually processed within two
weeks. You are encouraged to use a U.S. mailing address if possible. There are no
tracking or rush shipment services for diplomas mailed from SBCC.
In order to receive a diploma, you must first be awarded an Associate Degree, Certificate
of Achievement, or Skills Competency Award (SCA). Application status for degrees &
certificates can be viewed on unofficial transcripts in the campus portal. Only awarded degrees & certificates appear on official transcripts. Click here to order transcripts.
All financial holds must be cleared before diplomas will be released. Check your student account in the campus portal.
Click here to download the SCA Application (fillable PDF). Do not use this form for Associate Degrees or Certificates of Achievement.
Note: Skills Competency Awards do not appear on SBCC transcripts, are not included
in Commencement, & are not available in a digital format. For applications processed
in Fall 2021 and later, awards will be mailed to the address listed on the application
6-8 weeks after the end of the term*. For awards already on file, use the regular diploma mailing request or pick up the award in person at Admissions & Records.
*Exceptions: EMT does not require an award application. EMT awards will be distributed at the last course meeting & any mailing will be processed by the Allied Health department.
Final processing of degree & certificate applications does not begin until grades
have been certified by Admissions & Records, approximately one week after the end
of a term. Depending on the volume of applications, processing may take three to four
weeks after grade certification. You can view the status of your application on your
unofficial transcript in the campus portal. As thousands of applications are received every year, students
will not receive individual emails about their application status. After processing,
the status will change from "pending" to either "awarded" or "denied." Only awarded
degrees & certificates will appear on official transcripts.
Unless otherwise notified, diplomas for degrees & certificates are available from
Parchment no sooner than:
Awarded for the most recent Fall Semester: The following March
Awarded for the most recent Spring Semester: The following August
Awarded for the most recent Summer Sessions: The following September
Notification will be sent to your campus email when diplomas are in production.
Older Diplomas (Summer 2021 and older award terms): Diplomas are kept on file at A&R indefinitely. For degrees & certificates retroactively
awarded for previous academic years, diplomas are generally printed within two to
three weeks after they are posted to a student's SBCC transcript. To confirm that
your diploma, certificate, or SCA is available, please contact the SBCC Degree Analyst:
diplomas@sbcc.edu.
Multiple programs of study of the same type (AA/AA-T, AS/AS-T, Certificate, or Skills
Comp Award) awarded in the same semester will be printed on one diploma, up to a maximum of four associate degrees or three certificates/SCAs per diploma.
Digital diplomas are only available for degrees & certificates awarded in Fall 2021
or later and processed through Parchment. For earlier terms, request your printed
diploma from SBCC and/or order a transcript. Digital diplomas are issued by Parchment at the same time as the printed diplomas.
In-person diploma pickup for diplomas awarded prior to Fall 2021 is available at Admissions & Records, SS-110, during open hours. Photo ID is required. There is no charge to pick up your original diploma. Diplomas will not be released if you have financial holds.
If you are unable to come to campus, you may designate another person to pick up your
diploma by completing the Diploma Release Authorization.
For diplomas with completion terms earlier than Fall 2021: Complete the Mailing Request Form.
All diplomas on file will be mailed together. Financial holds must be cleared before
diplomas will be released.

you have lost your original diploma & need a replacement, complete the Duplicate Request Form.
There is a $20 fee per duplicate/replacement diploma. Fees may be paid in person at the Cashier, via check (payable to SBCC), or charged directly to your campus account after the
